Jereau Stewart rides first career winner
In an exciting career development, apprentice jockey Jereau Stewart scored his first win as a licensed rider aboard the Andre Adams-conditioned Briscoe at Caymanas Park on August 9, 2025.
Stewart rode Briscoe, a five-year-old chestnut horse, to a convincing 12-length victory in the third race, a maiden condition race for native-bred five-year-olds and upward over five furlongs (1,000m) on the round course.
This win not only demonstrates Stewart’s skills but also bodes well for his future in the sport.
Breaking from the gate, Briscoe shot to the front, establishing a strong lead over Blinding Light (Rotajmar Weir) and Empressinthebreeze (Paul Francis) as they approached the half-mile turn.
As the field navigated the turn, Briscoe began to pull away, steadily increasing his advantage with each stride. Entering the straight, he had a firm grip on the lead, and Stewart urged him on, unleashing a powerful burst of speed.
Briscoe responded eagerly, pulling away from the competition to cross the finish line with an easy win.
Briscoe finished ahead of Empressinthebreeze and Blinding Light in a time of 1:04.1.
Briscoe was the first winner for the season for Adams.
