Joseph Thomas saddles 300th career winner with Ballistic Missile
Trainer Joseph Thomas celebrated a milestone achievement at the races on August 9, 2025, at Caymanas Park, marking his 300th career win.
The landmark came when his charge, Ballistic Missile, ridden by Shane Ellis, won the second event on the card, a maiden condition race for native-bred four-year-olds and upward over 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight.
Ballistic Missile made a stunning move to cross the finish line first, securing the win by half a length in a time of 1:03.4. This win not only showcased the horse’s potential but also highlighted Thomas’s expertise and dedication as a trainer.
As the gates burst open, Ballistic Missile shot off to a blistering start, setting the pace ahead of his rivals. Girlythebutcher, ridden by Teneca Wolfe, Rock-Ola with Richie Shakes aboard, and Lucy on the Go piloted by Oneil Mullings trailed in his wake.
Ballistic Missile continued to blaze the trail, looking every bit the class horse as he crossed the dummy rails with a comfortable lead. However, the calm was short-lived, as Lucy on the Go launched a fierce challenge with less than a furlong to go.
Despite the pressure, Ballistic Missile held his ground, crossing the finish line with ease. Lucy on the Go pushed hard but couldn’t close the gap, settling for second place. Rock-Ola completed the podium, finishing third.
