Parchment appeals 25-day suspension by JRC
Jockey Phillip Parchment, president of the Jamaica Jockeys’ Guild, has appealed a 25-day suspension handed down by the Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC) stewards.
The suspension was imposed after Parchment’s ride in the Jamaica Oaks on August 2, 2025, where he allegedly intimidated and interfered with other riders by drifting left continuously while riding Wayne’scherrylinks.
A press release from the JRC stated: “Jockey Phillip Parchment, who rode Wayne’scherrylinks in the tenth race (Jamaica Oaks) on Saturday, August 2, 2025, was suspended for 25 days for the intimidation and interference caused to Linguist and Danka by drifting left continuously. The suspension will commence on August 30, 2025.”
Parchment’s appeal will be heard by the JRC commissioners, and if denied, he has the option to pursue the matter further in court.
