Nov 18 return date for man charged in scamming case
A St James man’s home in Montego Bay became the centre of a police investigation this month, culminating in his appearance in court Wednesday on charges related to possession of identity information.
Sun Valley Road resident, 24-year-old Tajnalee Taylor found himself under close scrutiny after law enforcement officers reportedly carried out a targeted operation at his residence.
He is represented by attorney-at-law Henry McCurdy.
According to court documents, police said they entered Taylor’s home about 6:00 am and found a green Samsung Galaxy phone resting on his bed. Cooperating with the authorities, Taylor provided the passcode, allowing investigators to examine the device in his presence.
The allegations are that cops uncovered a large cache of digital files at Taylor’s home. Excel and Word documents contained detailed personal information — names, addresses, e-mail, and phone numbers of individuals living overseas.
It is said the discovery led to Taylor’s immediate arrest and formal charges.
In court, the prosecution told judge Natiesaha Fairclough-Hylton that several key documents were still outstanding, including the Communication Forensics and Cybercrime Division report, the corroborating officer’s statement, and the chain of custody statement. These documents are expected to play a crucial role in the further handling of the case.
After considering submissions from Taylor’s attorney, the judge granted bail in the sum of $400,000 with up to three sureties. Conditions were imposed, requiring Taylor to report to a designated police station on specific days.
He is scheduled to return to the St James Parish Court on November 18 for a case management hearing.
