Sea of orange floods Cross Road as PNP holds final parish rally ahead of General Election
KINGSTON, Jamaica– There is a sea of orange in Cross Road, St Andrew at this time as the People’s National Party (PNP) stages its final parish rally before Jamaica votes on September 3.
The roads leading to Cross Road, including Half-Way Tree and Slipe roads are now blocked as Comrades make their way in buses, cars, bicycles, motor bikes and on foot into Cross Road.
For Comrades, this is the start of a march to victory as they continue to state “Time Come”.
According to some Comrades, by 1:00 pm on September 3 they will declare victory as they are returned to form the Government.
Among the early speakers was Joseph “Bunny” Witter, the party’s longtime unsuccessful candidate in the Kingston Western constituency. “The word is love,” declared Witter as he argued that the constituency needs a change.
“I want to be the Member of Parliament for the constituency,” said Witter as he declared that he also wants to remove the invisible boundaries in the constituency.
In the meantime there is no space on the margins of the meeting as the police try to control the crowd in the designated area.
In the vicinity of the Cross Road post office the police removed the barriers a short while ago as the crowd spilled over into an area that was initially deemed out of bounds.
Despite being a rally for the 15 Corporate Area constituencies, there are people wearing shirts with the PNP’s candidate for Manchester Central among several rural communities.
