Cherine Anderson brings healing
...drops The Door EP
Singer, songwriter, and producer Cherine Anderson invites listeners to The Door, her soul-filled five-track EP, which becomes available on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, via OAK Sounds.
In a time when the world feels weighed down by uncertainty, loss, and unspoken stress, the artiste said The Door offers calm in the storm, a safe place where hope, faith, and resilience meet the unmistakable heartbeat of Jamaican music.
Anderson’s signature dancehall-soul style blends seamlessly with reggae and gospel, offering listeners a refreshing space to release and breathe freely.
She shared that her journey to The Door has been a long walk and is deeply personal.
Following the passing of her father, Anderson stepped away from the spotlight, choosing instead to take time to replenish herself.
“I can’t pour from an empty cup,” she said. “I had to make my healing a priority, or I would risk emotionally bleeding on others, burning out, and creating confusion for those around me. Can people truly heal under the spotlight?”
The Door was written and produced by Anderson, with the track Victory co-produced alongside her long-time mentor Patrick Lindsay.
The EP assembles a stellar line-up including pianist Eban Hutton, mentor and legendary drummer Sly Dunbar (
Grace Under Fire), legendary guitarist Dwight Pinkney (Same God, Grace Under Fire), vocalist Albert Walker (
Same God), and violinist Jason DePue of the Philadelphia Orchestra (Victory).
Delroy “Fatta” Pottinger served as second engineer on Same God, while Grammy-winning engineers Orville “Rorey” Baker and Glen Barrat handled recording, mixing, and mastering duties.
The songs reflect life’s turning points — loss, heartbreak, betrayal, and renewal — yet always circle back to hope.
In the recently released Grace Under Fire, she confronts betrayal head-on with raw honesty:
“Judas de beside…pree? Will sell you out for 30 pieces and a meal deal / Pride and envy nah clap fi yuh victory / Dem wicked mouth is like a grave full a jealousy…”
Other tracks like Same God and the previously released Victory pulse with faith, hope, and determination, while
Up All Night and The Door (Healing) carry both intimacy and reassurance in the power of her faith in God.
Anderson sees this EP as more than music; it marks a new chapter in her musical journey, including her return to live performances and touring both locally and internationally.
Anderson’s career also includes screen. She played Tanya in the classic Dancehall Queen, and co-starred alongside Idris Elba and Kymani Marley in One Love, .
She was featured on Michael Franti’s Say Hey (I Love You), becoming the first Jamaican female to reach the Billboard Rock charts. She has collaborated with Sly & Robbie on remixes for Britney Spears, Madonna, and Paul McCartney; toured with Michael Franti, opening for John Mayer and Counting Crows; and released multiple hits in Jamaica, including Coming Over Tonight, Good Love, Kingston State of Mind, and Haffi Come Back.
While the full inspirational album is set for 2026, the team will be releasing more singles this year.
Cherine is hands-on in building out the vision for OAK Sounds, a label and community where like-minded artistes and producers can collaborate, grow, and launch their careers.
When asked what fans should expect, Anderson said:: “Expect songs that inspire and help you through the storms.” She added, “Songs you can play around your two-year-old or grandparents that bring calm, healing, and lead you to true peace.”
