Jessica Royes sings to people’s hearts
Gospel recording artiste and performer Jessica Royes says she believes part of her ministry is speaking to people’s hearts.
“Whenever I sing or perform I just want to let people know that Jesus loves them. I love speaking to people’s hearts and reminding them that God is real,” Royes stated in a recent interview with the Jamaica Observer.
Although she enjoys singing in church, it wasn’t until a year ago that she stepped out of her comfort zone and started performing on a stage.
“Last year was a pivotal moment for me. Even though I always sang in the church it wasn’t until about a year ago that I began to perform,” the former Immaculate Conception High alum stated.
Royes gave her life to Christ as a child and she again recommitted her faith to the Lord during her teenage years.
These days she worships at Swallowfield Chapel.
“My journey with Christ in general has been up and down. You feel like you’re learning lessons in rotation. I knew Jesus was real when I started to pray to Him as a child. My relationship with Him has been one of humility,” Royes shared.
She declares, however, has had some challenges along the journey.
“The challenges that I have faced have to do with friendships and navigating relationships. But I pray and put my trust in God to provide guidance and wisdom in these types of situations,” Royes shared.
After completing studies at Immaculate Conception High, Royes went on to Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she studied international development.
To date, she has released two full -length studio albums, 2020’s Born For This which has 10 songs, and Only You, released by Pioneer Music in 2024, which consists of 11 tracks.
Last year, she teamed up with singer Ce’Cile for the song Thankful.
