‘It’s in God’s hands’, says JPP’s Gillespie-Harris after Portland Eastern nomination
PORTLAND, Jamaica — Jamaica Progressive Party (JPP) candidate for Portland Eastern, Tracy-Ann Gillespie-Harris was nominated at 11:00 am Monday.
Gillespie-Harris, who is making her first foray into representational politics, described the nomination day mood as “calm”.
“I leave everything to God, it’s in his hands and the hands of the people that they know they have a viable option and will definitely put their X beside the praying hands,” Gillespie-Harris said.
In commenting on the possibility of unseating two-time Member of Parliament, the Jamaica Labour Party’s Ann-Marie Vaz, who was nominated earlier Monday, Gillespie-Harris said: “For us, we have to do the work, it’s about the Jamaican people first, and it’s not going to be empty promises…there’s so much to do… especially in the Portland Eastern region.”
Focusing on farmers and youth, Gillespie-Harris maintained that plans for the constituency focused on improving farm roads and reducing praedial larceny.
