‘Just like Busta’: Supporter connects JLP’s Clarke to party founder
ST JAMES, Jamaica – A supporter of Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) candidate for St James Central, Heroy Clarke, says he is “a winner” because he is a hard worker and shares a surname connection to the party founder Alexander Bustamante.
Bustamante, who changed his name, was formerly William Alexander Clarke.
“[He is] a winner, Heroy Clarke do him work, him follow from Bustamante… Clarke…. Him do him work without criticism, is a man you can call anytime, him office open,” the supporter, Ingrid Clarke (no relation to Heroy), said of the two-term Member of Parliament.
She made the remark to Observer Online after Heroy Clarke completed the nomination process at the St James Parish Church.
Heroy Clarke is expected to be challenged by Janice Allen of the People’s National Party.
