Williams celebrates first winner of 2025 with Millinium Star
Trainer Courtney Williams celebrated his first winner of the 2025 racing season courtesy of his charge, Millinium Star, who triumphed in the sixth race at Caymanas Park on August 16, 2025. The six-year-old bay mare was ridden by skilled jockey Phillip Parchment.
The race was a three-year-old and upward Optional Claiming ($350,000-$250,000) contest that included native-bred six-year-olds and upward (non-winners of three) and native-bred five-year-old and upward (maidens) over 5 furlongs (1,000m) on the straight course.
Parchment held Millinium Star off the pace at the break, allowing his mount to get into her groove. As the race unfolded, Parchment expertly positioned Millinium Star on the outside of the pack, allowing her to conserve energy and find her rhythm.
As the field approached the final stretch, Parchment urged the mare forward, and she responded with a burst of speed. In a nail-biting finish, Millinium Star edged past her rivals to win by a head from the fast-finishing
Little Grovy Thing, ridden by Raddesh Roman. Traditional Boy, piloted by Emelio McLean, secured third place.
The final time was 1:02.3 minutes
