Nine Jamaicans chase medals on day three of Junior Pan-American Games
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica will resume its chase for medals on Wednesday’s third day of the Junior Pan-American Games in Asuncion, Paraguay after a fruitless first two days.
Nine athletes will line up in six finals with the hope of winning medals which has eluded the Jamaicans so far with four athletes finishing in fourth place in their respective events on Tuesday, just outside the medals.
On Wednesday, Oneka Wilson and Briana Campbell are down to face the starter in the 100m hurdles after qualifying in Tuesday’s semi-finals.
Shanakaye Anderson is the only Jamaican in the women’s 400m final after Shanque Williams was disqualified in Tuesday’s semi-finals while Jasauna Dennis and Shaemer Uter will go medal hunting in the men’s 400m final.
Kishay Rowe will hope to improve on her fourth place in the women’s 800m on Tuesday when she lines up in the 1500m final on Wednesday.
Tyreece Hyman and Romario Stewart will run in the men’s 400m hurdles final while national Under 20 champion Daynea Colstock will be a medal favourite in the women’s 400m hurdles.
