Oblique beats Noah again in Diamond League
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Oblique Seville made it back-to-back Diamond League men’s 100m wins after he ran 9.87 seconds (-0.3m/s) in dreadful weather to win at Wednesday’s Athletissima Lausanne, the second-to-last stop in the series before next week’s final.
Despite the weather, Seville got off to a brilliant start and was never challenged as he beat American Olympic Games gold medalist Noah Lyles for the second straight time in the Diamond League.
Lyles and Jamaican Ackeem Blake were given the same time of 10.02 seconds.
The win took Seville to 16 points, the same as Blake and all but assured both men of a place in the Diamond League final.
Former World Championships gold medallist Tajay Gayle was third in the men’s long jump with 7.71m (-0.7m/s), just ahead of national champion Carey McLeod 7.67 m (-0.5m/s).
National record holder Ackera Nugent finished fourth in the 100m hurdles, running 12.57 seconds (-0.5m/s) while national champion Megan Tapper was seventh in 13.06 seconds.
Nadine Visser of the Netherlands won with 12.45 seconds, ahead of American Masai Russell- 12.53 seconds with Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji third in 12.54 seconds.
