Jamaica face Japan in Under 20 Lacrosse World Champs
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica will face Japan in the placement stage of the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship in Seogwipo, South Korea on Friday after losing 21-1 to Canada in their quarterfinal game a day earlier.
The lop-sided loss to Canada brought the Jamaicans back to earth after they had come from behind to upset Ireland 10-7 in their play-in game on Wednesday, a result that was described by World Lacrosse as “the most seismic results of the tournament in Korea”.
If Jamaica beat Japan, they will advance to the fifth-place play-off, but a loss would see them drop to the seventh-place play-off game.
Regardless of the result, Jamaica will finish in their highest position in the championships after they were ninth in their debut in 2022 and went into the championships ranked 10th.
