JLP momentum increasing daily, says Holness
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Prime Minister and Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) leader, Dr Andrew Holness, says the party is getting stronger every day as it campaigns to secure a historic third consecutive term on September 3.
“The momentum is not only with the Jamaica Labour Party. The momentum is increasing daily for the Jamaica Labour Party,” he said, his voice raspy from the rigours of the campaign trail.
Holness was speaking during a JLP mass rally and manifesto launch in Sam Sharp Square, Montego Bay Sunday night.
In front of a rapt crowd of green-clad supporters, he pointed to his administration’s achievements over the past two terms, including the creation of more than 280,000 jobs, maintaining a stable foreign exchange rate and significantly reducing crime.
Holness noted that the Jamaican dollar remains strong and stable, while murders are at their lowest level in more than three decades.
“Crime is at its lowest in 30 years. We have cut murders in the last years by 50 per cent. This is the lowest it has been in over 30 years,” the JLP leader told the sea of Labourites.
“Gone are the days when people used to worry about the depreciation of the Jamaican dollar. Those days are gone. We have a very stable and strong currency,” Holness added.
