Red Stripe concludes summer internship programme with children of its employees
RED Stripe has closed the curtain on its first-ever Brewing Success Summer Internship Programme, a pioneering initiative designed to invest directly in the next generation of talent by opening doors for the children of its employees.
Over seven weeks, 13 tertiary-level students immersed themselves in the heartbeat of the iconic Jamaican brewer, gaining hands-on industry exposure, mentorship from senior leaders, and the confidence to chart bold career paths.
The programme, an extension of Red Stripe’s Employee Assistance benefit, underscores the company’s belief that its legacy is not only built on brewing great beer, but also on nurturing people and their families.
“In addition to learning skills, this internship opportunity truly showed me what’s possible,” said Rhianna Dussard, marketing intern.
“We were trusted to contribute to real projects, and that has given me the confidence to pursue my dreams,” added Dussard.
From finance and supply chain to marketing and corporate affairs, interns worked alongside teams on live projects while also engaging in leadership workshops, industry tours, and community service.
Parents looked on with pride as children walked through the same brewery gates they themselves had entered for decades, but this time as professionals in training.
“To see my daughter walk into the same gates I have for years, but as an intern, was surreal,” said Arlington Whittick, packaging operator.
“Red Stripe gave her a chance to experience the legacy we’re building, and that means everything,” added Whittick.
For Red Stripe, the programme is both a symbol and a strategy.
“At Red Stripe, we believe our greatest legacy is not only the beer we brew but the lives we help shape,” said Sandra Bingham, human resources officer.
“This programme honours our people by extending opportunity to their families and nurturing the next generation of leaders, empowering them to discover their potential, build meaningful skills, and create futures as rich as the legacy we continue to brew together,” declared Bingham.
