Dane Dawkins celebrates birthday with double win at the races
FORMER champion jockey Dane Dawkins marked his birthday in style on Saturday, August 23, 2025 with a thrilling performance at the race track. Dawkins, known for his exceptional skills and tenacity on the track, secured two wins on the 10-race card, making his special day even more memorable.
The wins came courtesy of two talented horses, King’s Crown and Flybluejet. King’s Crown, trained by Steven Todd, emerged victorious in the third race while Flybluejet, trained by Gary Subratie, took the top spot in the seventh event.
King’s Crown made one move to win the race by a length ahead of Blu Sensation (Nicardo Carr) and Firecracker (Paul Prancis) going six furlongs (1,200m). The race was a Restricted Allowance III contest for native-bred four-year-olds and upward (non-winners of four) and imported four-year-olds (non-winners of three). King’s Crown won in a time of 1:15.3.
Flybluejet was a comfortable winner by a length and three quarters in a three-year-old and upward Claiming ($1.5m-$1.2m) race over five furlongs (1,000m) round. Flybluejet won ahead of Milos (Richie Shakes) and
Midnight Flight (Demar Williams) in a time of 1:02.1.
Dawkins’ impressive track record speaks for itself, having claimed the champion jockey title in 2022, and the birthday boy’s double win was a fitting celebration of another year of life and a testament to his enduring passion for the sport.
