Cavalier SC draws 1-1 with Haiti’s Juventus in Concacaf competition
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaican champions Cavalier SC gave up a first-half lead and were held 1-1 by Haitian champions FC Juventus des Cayes in their Concacaf Caribbean Cup Group B game played at Sabina Park in Kingston on Thursday.
It would be two points lost for Cavalier SC after Adrian Reid missed a first-half penalty and also hit the frame of the goal, also in the first half.
The draw left Cavalier SC in fourth place in Group B on one point from their two games played, one place lower than Juventus, who are also only on one point from two games.
Cavalier SC, who have not scored in two competitive games played, missed taking the lead in the 13th minute after goalkeeper Emmanuel Victor saved a penalty kick from Reid.
Shamar Watson came to the rescue five minutes later when he fired a volley from about 35 yards out, which gave Victor no chance of saving.
Juventus de Cayes salvaged a point in the 77th minute when midfielder Peterson Sëide curled a free kick from just on the edge of the 18-yard box high into the top left-hand corner of the goal, beating goalkeeper Jeadine White.
