Florindia favoured for O&S Tack Room Trophy
FOLLOWING a strong second-place finish behind Supernatural Power in her previous outing, Florindia is expected to dominate this afternoon’s $1.25-million O&S Tack Room Trophy feature at Caymanas Park.
The Arnold Rambally-conditioned filly was only 2½ lengths behind the winner over five furlongs on the round course and is anticipated to handle the one-mile (1,600m) distance with ease.
With champion jockey Raddesh Roman retaining the ride, Florindia’s connections are confident in her ability to perform well. The four-year-old American-bred filly has been training well for this Restricted Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward and is expected to lead home her rivals.
The contest is positioned as the ninth event on the 10-race card with a post time of 5:10 pm. First race is high noon.
While Florindia is the clear favourite to win the O&S Tack Room Trophy, several contenders could potentially challenge her dominance. Super Alex, Provident, Magnificent Force and Supremasi are all capable of testing Florindia’s ability and making the competition more intense.
These horses could push Florindia to her limit, making the outcome of the race less certain. However, Florindia’s strong form and pedigree suggest she may still be the one to beat.
Super Alex ran a brave race to finish second to Girvano over seven and a half furlongs (1,500m) on August 6. If he can reproduce that effort he could surprise with a strong challenge.
Provident is a consistent performer with three wins from eight starts. He’s expected to do well in this contest and his connections will be hoping he can build on his recent form.
Magnificent Force is training well and could run a strong race, despite her recent lacklustre form. Her connections will be hoping she can build on her training and show improvement.
Supremasi was a disqualified winner on his last outing but is better suited to this distance. However, Florindia is the main obstacle, and he’ll need to be at his best to overcome her.
