‘Big Rob’ touts ‘performance after performance’ as MP for St Catherine South Eastern
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Robert ‘Big Rob’ Miller, the Jamaica Labour Party’s candidate for St Catherine South Eastern, says the constituency has witnessed “a cadre of performance after performance” under his stewardship as Member of Parliament (MP).
Miller pointed to infrastructure as an example of his performance since ending the PNP’s reign in the constituency in September of 2020.
“In terms of infrastructure, we have resurfaced areas that we have never seen for over 40 years. The Bridgeport and the Waterford business complex that holds the post office has never been resurfaced for over 40 years. It has been done by yours truly,” the JLP politician told the party’s mass meeting in Spanish Town, St Catherine on Sunday night.
He also pointed to Robinson Close as another roadway that has been fixed, which was not done under the previous PNP parliamentarian.
Miller said the constituency has also benefited from seven public WiFi networks.
“We have removed Bridgeport High School off the shift system, and placed a new block [there]. We have ran a perimeter fence at Bridgeport Primary School for the safety of our kids,” he informed.
The first-term MP also lauded the government of Jamaica and Minister Robert Morgan for the SPARK programme, under which Mahoe Drive, Edgewater Avenue and Susan Avenue have been rehabilitated.
Miller said there are more things to accomplish in his constituency, if he wins a next stint as parliamentarian.
“We have done a lot and many more needs to be done. We want to redevelop the Port Henderson Road into a tourism mecca, we want to lobby the administration for a bus depot adjacent to the resilient park, we want to ensure that we have our own NIS building for our elderly in Portmore because they have to traverse to Kingston or Spanish Town,” Miller stated.
Miller mentioned his opponent, the PNP’s Alfred Dawes, who, he said, is trying to be the next minister of health.
“But under my dead body, the people of South East St Catherine will never allow that!” Miller declared.
