Golding targets undecided and Labourites
ST JAMES, Jamaica — President of the People’s National Party (PNP) Mark Golding has appealed to the undecided and even members of the Jamaica Labour Party (JKP) to join Comrades in supporting the PNP.
Jamaicans head to the polls September 3 in what is expected to be a keenly contest general election.
“Comrades, on Wednesday, I ask you — all the undecided voters, even the Labourites — put your X beside the head and return Jamaica to decency. Return Jamaica to be a country that the whole of the world can look on and say, ‘That’s the model Caribbean pearl’,” encouraged Golding.
He was addressing a PNP mass rally in Sam Sharpe Square, St James.
Bringing the curtains down on the event and a campaign that has rolled on for about two years, he expressed gratitude for the support he has received.
“I want to thank each and every one on the team who has helped me on this journey because we are marching on to progress. And come Wednesday, we will be marching on to victory. And most of all, I want to thank you, the comrades and supporters, the workers and warriors of this great movement, the People’s National Party, who have come in your many, many tens of thousands to Sam Sharpe Square tonight to send a signal that we are ready for change and that the time has come for a better life,” stated Golding.
He pledged that should the PNP be given the chance to form the next government, there would be accountability, integrity and a focus on the Jamaican people.
“To the people of Jamaica, I pledge to you that the government that I will lead will be one that is accountable to the people, that listens to the people, that is transparent in how we operate and that ensures that the resources of the people are used solely for the benefit and upliftment of the people, not for friend and company, not for personal enrichment,” assured Golding.
