JLP mass meeting starts with Kukudoo leading off gospel segment
ST CATHERINE,Jamaica — The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) mass meeting has kicked off at Old Harbour Road on Spanish Town, St Catherine, with its gospel segment, featuring gospel artiste David ‘Kukudoo’ McDermott.
Following prayers, Kukudoo whipped up the crowd in a frenzy with his hits such as Jerusalem.
A staple at several JLP meetings, the artiste echoed the governing party’s election slogan of ‘Choose Jamaica’.
“Say, ‘Bun out mad mind’,” Kukudoo urged the sea of jubilant Labourites.
“Say, ‘We choose Jamaica, ’cause we love Jamaica!” he added.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness is among the speakers at what is expected to be the party’s final mass rally before Wednesday’s General Election.
The JLP is on a high heading into the polls following Friday’s release of the Nationwide/Bluedot polls that showed 46 per cent of the 1,511 persons polled indicating that they will vote for the governing party when compared fo 33 per cent for the PNP.
On Sunday, the RJRGLEANER-commissioned Don Anderson poll gave the PNP the edge, as 37.6 per cent of the 1,010 individuals polled say they would vote for the Opposition compared to 34.5 per cent for the JLP.
Earlier on Sunday, Holness was touring the constituencies of St Catherine North Western and St Catherine North Eastern, where Newton Amos and Kerensia Morrison are the candidates.
