Financial app helps cop in quest to secure his family’s future
SERVING as a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) demands discipline, focus and commitment, and for Corporal Garfield Williams those qualities carry over into his personal life where he is determined to build a stable future for his four children and their mother.
Motivated by that goal, Williams has been exploring ways to create lasting security for his family, and that pursuit recently gained momentum with JN Financial Group’s ONE JN Passport.
Through the intelligent app the St Mary-based cop accessed an unsecured loan from Jamaica National (JN) Bank in a heartbeat, with the funds earmarked for channelling into two business ventures aimed at strengthening his family’s future.
He said the businesses, to be managed by his family, are intended to address gaps in his community while creating an avenue for generational wealth.
“It [ONE JN Passport] was very instrumental, and this move I’m making now is something to really give me a safe footing to maintain my family. This money will carry me a far way, and with the amount that I took I’m able to move forward with plans to put up a permanent structure to do what I’m doing,” said Williams.
“I had some delays — which were not on the part of JN but on my part — but overall, this whole thing was completed in less than five days,” added Williams.
A JN member since 2013, Williams was introduced to the app at JN Bank in Highgate, St Mary. He described it as highly convenient, and said the app’s swift application and review process made it easier for someone like him who has little time to spare for bank visits.
According to Williams, it assisted with turning his aspirations into action — without the paperwork and long wait time usually associated with traditional banking processes.
“I have two children going into high school, and when they complete that and are to move on to college I won’t have to feel around for some money [as] — I would have laid the foundation and put away enough to get them started. That’s what I am looking at, instead of waiting around until the time comes and I have to be running around,” said Williams.
Commending the app on its simple and easy-to-use design, Williams also highlighted the courteous service he received from employees whose guidance, along with the bank’s competitive offerings, encouraged him to apply for the loan.
“To be honest, I had another option, but looking at that option was still not safe and JN is really on top of the game right now,” he said.
“To me, JN is more like family. You’re not going into a bank to get a loan, it’s like you’re going to your own family to tell them that this is what you want to do, and they are just willing to assist you all the way through,” declared Williams.
Impressed by his experience, he has also been actively encouraging fellow members of the JCF to consider JN Bank and the wider JN Group for their financial needs.
“I’m very comfortable with [my loan terms] and right now, there are other officers that I hear talking about loans and I’ve said [to them], ‘Listen, don’t go anywhere else. Find JN first, sit down, talk with them, and have a business plan. Whatever you want your money to do, go and look at JN,’ ” said Williams.
The ONE JN Passport is part of JN Group’s broader efforts to promote financial inclusion and empower individuals with quick, convenient access to financial services that help them achieve their personal and business goals.
It allows users to provide their information digitally to the JN Financial Group only once to access a range of financial services within the group, including unsecured loans, savings accounts, credit cards, or a Partna Plan at JN Bank.
In time, users will be able to access the full suite of financial services provided by the JN Group through the portal.
