Gabby Thomas to miss World Championships due to injury

United States Olympic champion Gabby Thomas will reportedly miss the upcoming World Championships due to an Achilles tendon injury she has been battling with since May.

According to an ESPN report, Thomas reportedly exacerbated the injury in July.

“I understand that it will be disappointing for some track fans to hear this news, but I’ve finally come to the realisation that it’s OK to be human and take care of myself,” Thomas was quoted as saying.

Thomas earned three gold medals at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris— one in the 200-metre individual event and two with her teammates in the 4×100 and 400-metre relays, where they set an American record and the second-fastest time ever.
