General Elections: Holness retains St Andrew West Central seat
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Andrew Holness has retained the St Andrew West Central seat in the 2025 General Election, based on preliminary results.
Holness tallied 7,054 votes while the People’s National Party (PNP) Paul Buchanan secured 4,953 votes.
In 2020, Holness defeated PNP’s Patrick Roberts with a 64.72 per cent of 11,124 votes casted.
In the meantime, former senator and minister of state for tourism, Delano Seiveright, has secured a landslide victory in the St Andrew North Central constituency.
Preliminary results show Seiveright securing 2,500 more votes than his competitor, the PNP’s Christopher Henry. The win reflects broad-based support, drawing strong backing not only from the constituency’s inner-city pockets but also from its middle-class and affluent neighbourhoods.
Seiveright secured the JLP nomination just over two month ago in June. He succeeds veteran Member of Parliament Karl Samuda.
