Congrats, Prime Minister-elect Holness
Dear Editor,
As president of the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions (JCTU), I extend heartfelt congratulations to Dr Andrew Holness on his re-election as prime minister of Jamaica and all other elected officials on their general election victory.
The people of Jamaica have spoken, and the JCTU reaffirms its commitment to unity, constructive dialogue, and shared responsibility as we move forward together in building a stronger, more equitable Jamaica.
The JCTU believes that the success of our nation rests on genuine collaboration between Government, workers, and employers. In this new chapter of leadership, we call for an open and respectful partnership that places the welfare of Jamaican workers at the heart of national development.
In particular, the JCTU looks forward to continuing discussions on wage reform and other critical labour issues with Prime Minister-elect Holness and his soon-to-be-named Cabinet. We are committed to ensuring that the voices of workers are heard and that policies reflect the principles of fairness, justice, and sustainable growth.
As we look ahead, the JCTU pledges to work in partnership with all stakeholders to advance Jamaica’s economic resilience by increasing productivity to achieve sustained economic growth. Additionally, it is imperative that we continue to strengthen protections for workers and foster a future of dignity and opportunity for every citizen. Together, we can create a path forward that honours the contributions of workers while building a prosperous and inclusive Jamaica for generations to come.
St Patrice Ennice
