Mouttet Mile Invitational heats up
…Five foreigners arrive for Jamaica’s Richest Race
Five thoroughbreds — Lunetta Jak, Dothraki, Just A Fair Shake, Give Me Liberty, and Fortuna Belle — have landed in Jamaica, fresh from their campaigns across American tracks. These top-class horses have competed at renowned venues like Gulfstream Park and California’s finest circuits, accumulating valuable experience and impressive resumes.
Now they’re gearing up to face off in Jamaica’s richest and most prestigious race — the Mouttet Mile, scheduled for Saturday, December 6. With their diverse backgrounds and varying levels of success, these thoroughbreds are poised to deliver an electrifying performance.
Below is a closer look at the quintet now stabled locally and preparing for the showdown.
Lunetta Jak (Jess’s Dream – Wild Tuna) – Trained by Rowan Mathie, Lunetta Jak has consistently finished in the money, with five third-place finishes in 15 starts. Although she’s yet to secure a win, her Gulfstream experience could help her adapt to the Jamaican tracks.
Dothraki (Into Mischief – Vanquished) – Trained by Jason DaCosta, Dothraki has shown promise in his brief career, with one win in three starts. His pedigree suggests untapped potential, but he’ll need to recapture his early form to be competitive in the Mouttet Mile.
Just A Fair Shake (Laoban – Ladymidtown) – Trained by Daniel McKenzie, Just A Fair Shake is the most accomplished contender, with earnings of $171,600. He has won twice and finished second twice in eight starts, demonstrating strong form and versatility across multiple tracks.
Give Me Liberty (Constitution – The Dream) – Trained by Rowan Mathie, Give Me Liberty has been consistent, with two wins and five second-place finishes in 10 starts, earning $100,957. Her 2025 campaign has seen top-two finishes, making her a strong contender for the Mouttet Mile.
Fortuna Belle (Uncaptured – Double Seven) – Trained by Robert Pearson, Fortuna Belle is a seasoned campaigner from the claiming ranks, with five wins and $141,840 in earnings. Her grit and experience might make her a dark horse in the Mouttet Mile, especially if the pace suits her closing style.
Each of these thoroughbreds brings their unique strengths and experiences to the table, making the Mouttet Mile a thrilling competition to watch.
