World Cup Qualifiers: Denmark, France favourites to win
Following last week’s exciting set of league matches, the FIFA World Cup qualifiers takes centre stage for the next two weeks, with some mouth-watering clashes taking place this Friday.
Event # 1 –WCQ– Denmark vs Scotland– 1:45 PM
Denmark and Scotland will go head to head later today as both teams kicks off their 2026 World Cup campaign. The Danes enter this game high on confidence having showcased their attacking flair when dismantling Lithuania 5-0 in their friendly game back in June. At home, Denmark has been particularly impressive, winning their last three matches in dominant fashion, scoring eight goals and conceding just once during that run. Indeed, Denmark will be confident of getting their World Cup campaign off to a winning start, having not lost a match on home soil since June 2022.
Scotland, on the other hand, will be aiming to build on their impressive 4-0 demolition of Liechtenstein back in June. They are looking to make their first appearance at the World Cup finals since the 1998 tournament, but they will be aware of the difficult task at hand to secure a result away to Denmark, a team that rarely drops point at home.Worryingly for Scotland is that they have only won back to back matches just once over the last two years and have failed to score more than one goal in nine of their last 11 competitive matches.
Key Stats
• Denmark – Denmark have won eight of their last nine home matches and have won four of their last five World Cup qualifying matches.
• Scotland–Scotland have lost two of their last three matches and like Denmark, Scotland have won four of their last five World Cup qualifiers.
• Both sides – When both teams last met back in 2021, Denmark won 2-0.
The betting Tip.Denmark win.
Event # WCQ– Ukraine vs France– 1:45 PM
Ukraine will kick off their World Cup campaign when they host France in Poland, as they are still unable to play their matches on home soil. Both these team enter this crucial match with identical records over their last five matches in all competitions, having secured three wins and two defeats apiece. Indeed, Ukraine has displayed excellent form in their recent World Cup qualifiers, winning three, drawing once and losing just once in their last five qualifying matches. With that said, Ukraine will arrive in Poland with concerns over their recent consistency. They qualified for Euro 2024 but were ousted at the group stage. Since then, they had a big 3-1 home win over Belgium in the Nations League play-offs before suffering a heavy defeat in Belgium, ending their chances of qualifying for the Nations League top tier.
France will enter this game in better form, having finished third at the recent Nations League finals in June, losing 5-4 to Spain, before beating Germany 2-0 in the third-place play-offs. With that said, France have reached the last two World Cup finals, winning in 2018. Indeed, France have won five of their last eight overall matches and, with their impressive attacking threats, will arrive in Poland confident of securing a positive result, having gone unbeaten in their last five World Cup qualifiers.
Key Stats
• Ukraine – Ukraine have won four of their last 11 overall matches.
• France – France have scored eight goals in their last three matches and are unbeaten in their last four head-to-head meetings with Ukraine.
• Both sides – Ukraine have only beaten France once in their last 11 meetings.
