Wolmer’s vs Campion football rivalry returns to Heroes Circle
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Age Quod Agis Sports Alumina Association (SAA) Reunion Weekend Football Showcase starts Saturday at Wolmer’s Boys’ School, bringing back the rivalry between Wolmer’s High School and Campion College to Heroes Circle.
The event dubbed “Return to Heroes Circle Pt 2” promises even more excitement with a U-14 exhibition at 1:00 pm, an inaugural over-50 match at 2:30 pm, and the marquee over-40 Wolmer’s vs Campion alumni match at 3:30 pm.
Now in its 15th year, the Age Quod Agis Reunion has raised more than $14 million for Wolmer’s programmes, from nutrition programmes, sporting equipment, medical supplies, digital learning transformation and facility upgrades.
“We’re happy to be back at Heroes Circle this year to showcase the event at our alma mater and to further connect with the student athletes who benefit from the funds raised,” said Andre Gray, president of Age Quod Agis SAA. “We had a great turnout at our last staging and, today, we are looking for even more support. It’s about having a great time as we support our next generation. Today is about fun for the entire family, good vibes and energy and, of course, the friendly rivalry with our Campion counterparts who are once again onboard for the 12th consecutive year.”
Patrons can also benefit from health checks through the Ministry of Health and Wellness’ “Know Your Numbers” campaign, which offers free testing for blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and prostate health. Meanwhile, Stewart’s Motors will host a Mitsubishi Motor Zone Experience, showcasing the brand’s latest vehicles and technology.
Campion College is also fully onboard.
“We’ve been participating in this event for over 13 years. It’s something we look forward to as it allows us to reconnect with our schoolmates and bond with our peers while supporting a worthy cause,” said Julian Mair, Campion College lead and chief investment strategist at JMMB Group.
The weekend culminates with the Reunion Afterparty, N’dulge, at the NHT Sports & Social Club in Kingston, featuring DJs Timmy HMV, Narity, Warrick, and Ambassadors Disco.
Gray emphasised that all proceeds go directly to Wolmer’s student-athletes.
“Every dollar raised during this weekend directly benefits student-athletes,” he said.
“Our association understands that excellence in sports requires proper nutrition, quality equipment and modern facilities — all of which require funding to help today’s student-athletes capitalise on the opportunities available,” he continued.
This year’s reunion is endorsed by the Jamaica Tourist Board and supported by Mitsubishi Motors, Barita Investments, the Ministry of Health and Wellness, STRAXEA, MDS Limited & Splirt Hydration Fuel, Modern Power Cooling and Technology, Hawkeye, FESCO, Mother’s, Express Fitness, LH Multimedia, CaribTix and Western Sports.
