Troy High start daCosta Cup with win over Muschett
TRELAWNY, Jamaica —Troy High School matched last season’s win total after they ambushed Muschett High 3-1 in their rescheduled ISSA daCosta Cup Zone D game played at Troy High in Trelawny on Monday.
The game was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday but was rained out.
Troy High, who played in Zone G last year, won just one game after they had returned to the competition after a long break and joined Cedric Titus High as the leaders in the Zone.
Their lone win last season came at the expense of Alston High who they beat 3-2 and scored just six goals last year, conceding 38 in the process.
On Monday, Troy High led 3-0 at half time as Marshall Smith gave them the lead when he scored in the third minute.
Ashawn Mullings doubled the lead in the 34th minute before Richard Patrick added a third goal in the 44th minute.
Taven Brown scored for Muschett High in time added.
Also on Monday, former champions Clarendon College came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Central High in their Zone H game.
Lennon High are the early leaders in Zone H after beating Claude McKay High 2-1.
In another game played on Monday, Mt St Josephs Catholic High and Cross Keys also drew 1-1.
