The JDF Co-operative Credit Union (JDFCCU) awarded over $2.3 million in scholarships to 49 students on August 29, 2025, at the Caribbean Military Academy, Up Park Camp. For the first time, the ceremony was held before the academic year to help ease financial burdens on families. Scholarships were granted in primary and secondary categories, with additional recognition for 16 members who received backpacks for strong academic performance.
JDFCCU President Lt Col Maxwell Gordon called the scholarships an investment in Jamaica’s future, while Marketing Officer Jhenelle Trowers said the early awards provide financial relief and motivation to students. The programme supports children of credit union members with good financial standing and consistent savings, reinforcing the union’s commitment to youth empowerment and educational equity.
