Watson bags eight as Glenmuir crush Bustamante 13-0

Former champions Glenmuir High scored a 13-0 win over Bustamante High with Orane Watson scoring eight times as they started their ISSA daCosta Cup campaign on Wednesday.

Glenmuir, who are one of the favourites, and scored just two double-digit wins last season, recorded the largest margin of victory early in the season as last season’s bunners-up McGrath High beat Tacius Golding High 9-0, and Manchester High and Munro College were 8-0 winners over Cross Keys High and Sydney Pagon High, respectively.

In addition to Watson’s haul of goals, Dunsting Cohen scored a hat-trick while Orel Miller and Ricardo Binns scored one goal each.

Orane Wright scored four goals to lead Manchester High to back to back wins. Shamone Reynolds scored a brace with Ludwick Collins and Daniel Bartley getting the others.

Lenworth Hyde got his first win as the head coach of Dinthill Technical as they beat Charlemont High 3-0 with a brace from Romaine Grant and another from Tirafah Bryan.

In Zone A, Maldon High took the early lead as they won back to back 3-2 games, beating Irwin High to go to a maximum six points as Cornwall College were held 0-0 by St James High and Herbert Morrison edged Green Pond High 2-1.

William Knibb opened the season with a 1-0 win over Troy High, thanks to a goal from Kaheel Campbell.

Spot Valley High rebounded from their loss to Cedric Titus High by beating Muschett High 2-0 with second-half goals from Stevan Mullings in the 46th minute and 13 year-old Rahiem Sterling in the 61st minute.

Munro College rebounded from their upset loss to B B Coke on Saturday to swamp Sydney Pagon STEM 8-0; B B Coke stayed on top of Zone E after outscoring Maggotty High 3-2 while Ben Francis Cup holders St Elizabeth Technical were held 0-0 by Newell High at home.

Zone B powerhouses Rusea’s High and Frome Technical both chalked up back to back wins; Rusea’s High got by Anchovy High 5-1 in Lucea while Frome Technical blanked Green Island High 5-0.

In the other game in the group, Knockalva Technical edged Cambridge High 2-1.
