$3m allocation for upgrade of bathrooms at Falmouth Market
TRELAWNY, Jamaica-The bathroom facilities at the Falmouth Market are slated for an upgrade with a $3-million allocation from the Ministry of Local Government.
The announcement was made by Mayor of Falmouth and chairman of the Trelawny Municipal Corporation (TMC), Councillor C Junior Gager, during the corporation’s regular monthly meeting on Thursday.
“Minister of Local Government Desmond McKenzie has announced that he will be giving us $3 million to place emphasis on the bathroom facilities at the market,” Gager announced.
However, the mayor did not provide a timeline as to when the project will begin and complete.
Meanwhile, he announced that measures will be implemented to ensure vendors operate within their designated stalls and refrain from selling in the facility’s aisles.
“We can’t have people coming into the market and the aisle of the market is full with sellers and the stalls are empty. So we will be having discussions with the vendors, we will be sending out flyers again to inform them of what we intend to do, and we will also be meeting with them to have dialogue,”Gager said.
