Mannings beat Lewisville 12-0 in daCosta cup
ST ELIZABETH — The Mannings School welcomed Lewisville High back to the ISSA daCosta Cup competition on Thursday by beating them 12-0 in a rescheduled Zone C game played at Lewisville High in New Market, St Elizabeth.
Jodon Grey and Jarvis Meylor both scored hat-tricks for Mannings School, who became the 11th school to win their first two games of the season.
Painting Williams also scored a brace while Kajaye Williams, Desani Brown, Rajon McKenzie and Jehrue Campbell got one each as Mannings School got their widest margin of victory in at least 15 years.
Thursday’s game was the first for Lewisville High in the competition for more than 20 years.
On Friday, Porus High, who are coming off their first daCosta Cup win in nine years since the 2016 season when they won three games, will hope to win back-to-back games when they take on Knox College in a Zone G game at the Porus Community Centre.
Porus High beat Holmwood Technical 2-0 on Wednesday after they had lost by the same margin against Alphansus Davis High in their opening game on Saturday.
They finished last season with one point which was an improvement over the 2023 season when they lost all eight games played, scoring a single goal while conceding 92.
Knox College have drawn one of their two games played so far to be on one point but had won three games last year when they returned to the competition after a break.
