PREMIER LEAGUE SHOWDOWNS

...Arsenal vs Nottingham; Man City vs Man United

One of the biggest fixtures in the world takes place this Sunday when Man City and Man United collide in the Manchester derby, in an eagerly anticipated clash. However, before that, the Gunners, Arsenal, will be aiming to heap more misery on the slow starting Nottingham Forest at the Emirates on Saturday.

Event # 1 – EPL – Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest – 6:30 AM

The Premier League returns after the international break with a bang, as title favourites Arsenal welcome Nottingham Forest to the Emirates, aiming to bounce back from their heartbreaking loss to Liverpool, just before the international break. Indeed, the Gunners, Arsenal, started their campaign on a high, winning their opening two matches before succumbing to Liverpool, while Forest have had a mixed bag of results, having won one, drawn one, and lost one in their three matches so far. Despite the away defeat at Liverpool, Arsenal’s home record is one of the best in the league and remains strong, having lost just two of their last nine home games in all competitions. And, worryingly for Forest is that their recent clashes against Arsenal have not gone their way, with the Gunners unbeaten against them in their last four meetings.

Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, have an awful record away from home against Arsenal, last tasting victory away at the Gunners in March 1989. Indeed, Nottingham Forest have had defensive issues so far this season and have not kept a clean sheet in their last three games against Arsenal, and they have also failed to keep a clean sheet in three of their last five overall matches against Arsenal. Interestingly, all isn’t well in the Forest camp ahead of their trip to the Emirates as the circus surrounding the club’s owner, Evangelos Marinakis, and the coach, Nuno Espirito, reached boiling point, leading to the coach being sacked with Ange Postecoglou, who himself was recently sacked by the Tottenham hierarchy, taking over as manager.

Key Stats

• Arsenal – Arsenal have conceded in 12 of their last 19 home matches and have conceded in seven of their last eight games without Saliba last season. For this game, Saliba will be out injured.

• Nottingham Forest – Forest have won just two of their last nine away matches and have just one clean sheet on their travels so far this calendar year.

• Both sides – Arsenal are unbeaten in their last four matches against Nottingham Forest and are unbeaten in their last two home matches.

The betting Tip.Arsenal win.

Event # EPL – Man City vs Man United – 10:30 AM

The Manchester derby is back this Sunday, and this one feels extra spicy, as City are coming off back-to-back losses and United finally getting their first win of the new campaign, to head to their cross-town rivals in good spirits. With that said, City’s recent form has raised eyebrows, losing to Tottenham at home and away to Brighton, before the international break. However, they are still seen as favourites to beat their city rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium. With City not firing on all cylinders so far this season, it might appear that them being seen as slight favourites against their city rivals isn’t justified at this time as they are winless against Man United in their last four head to head meetings.

Sparks will be flying when United travels to the Etihad to face their city rivals, having secured their first win of the season prior to the international break, a hard fought 3-2 over Burnley, even though they were expected to win easy at home. Interestingly, Manchester United’s best performance came in their opening match, a 0-1 home defeat to Arsenal, after which they were humiliated by a lower division side, Grimsby, on penalties, a result seen by many as the worst in their history. However, with Man City struggling defensively, Man United’s attacking threat, led by Bruno Fernandes and recent arrivals Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Seslo, could pose significant problems for City’s suspect defence.

Key Stats

• Man City – Manchester City have conceded in four of their last five league home matches.

• Man United –United are winless in their last six away Premier League matches. However, United took four points off City last season, including a win at the City ground.

• Both sides – United’s Bruno Fernandes has assisted or scored in four of his last six games against Man City.

The betting Tip.Draw.
