Samantha Hall into discus final at World Champs
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Samantha Hall gave Jamaica a fast start at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan after she qualified for the final of the women’s discus throw with a mark of 63.32m in the third round in Group B of the qualifying on the first morning.
The final will be held on the afternoon session of the second day (Sunday morning, Jamaica time).
Hall, the North American, Central American and Caribbean Championships (NACAC) champion in August, jumped from 14th place to eighth overall at the time of the throw, her third best mark ever.
After fouling her first attempt, Hall threw 60.20m in the second round before unleashing her best throw ever at a major championships.
The national champion had thrown 56.99m at the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon in 2022, 58.43m in Budapest, Hungary in 2033 and 54.90m at the Olympic Games in Paris last year.
