Tokyo 2025: Ackelia Smith fails to get past first round in women’s long jump
Jamaican national champion Ackelia Smith failed to get past the first round of the women’s long jump on the opening day of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan after jumping 6.34m (0.4m/s).
Smith, who was 12th in her qualifying group, got her best mark in the first round before fouling the second attempt and jumping 6.28m (1.0m/s) on her final effort as she finished 26th overall.
She is scheduled to contest the triple jump along with Shanieka Ricketts later in the championships.
