Supernatural Power runs away with Thunderbird Trophy
AS expected, the Philip Feanny-conditioned Supernatural Power easily obliged as the favourite in the $1.4-million Thunderbird Trophy feature at Caymanas Park.
Three-year-old, American-bred, grey filly Supernatural Power won the Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over seven furlongs (1,400m) by four and a half lengths, in a smooth 1:25.0.
With Raddesh Roman in the saddle Supernatural Power got a good start at the off and chased Mamma Mia (Shaheem Gordon) for most of the way. When asked to run by Roman, Supernatural Power joined Mamma Mia on the lead approaching the distance before taking control at the top of the lane. Supernatural Power then powered home to win ahead of Tiz Tok (Tyrese Anderson) and Girvano (Reyan Lewis).
Former champion jockey Dane Dawkins starred the show with four winners. They were D’Storm in the first race for trainer Patrick Lynch, God’s Plan in the third race for trainer Gary Subratie, Propellant in the fifth race, also for Subratie, and Mark My Identity in the 10th and final race for trainer Byron Davis.
The action continues today with a nine-race card. The first post is at 12:05 pm.
