Congratulations on a third term
Dear Editor,
The Jamaica Employers’ Federation (JEF) congratulates the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and its leader, Dr Andrew Holness, on their resounding victory in Jamaica’s 19th general election held on September 3.
This historic win — delivering 35 seats to the JLP against the People’s National Party’s 28 — marks the first time in the party’s history that it will form Government for a third consecutive term under the same leader. JEF acknowledges the significance of this achievement and commends the prime minister and his team for their continued mandate from the Jamaican people.
As the incoming Administration takes office, JEF underscores the importance of building on the economic and social foundations already laid. Progress must be felt not only in national statistics but also in the lived experiences of the ordinary Jamaican — the man and woman in the street.
The JEF further calls on both the Government and the Opposition to rise above partisan divides and work together in the spirit of unity so that Jamaica can move forward as one nation, stronger and more resilient.
JEF encourages the new Administration to continue fostering a business-friendly environment — one that balances economic growth with social protection, encourages innovation, and strengthens labour relations — so that employers and employees alike can thrive in this new chapter of nation-building.
The JEF stresses the need to break the chains of inefficiency and create meaningful partnerships among all stakeholders — government, employers, workers, and civil society. Together, we must improve labour productivity, uphold transparent governance, and deliver ethical service to every Jamaican. These principles are the cornerstones of a prosperous and equitable society.
The JEF remains committed to partnering with Government, business, and labour to ensure that Jamaica advances towards sustainable development, global competitiveness, and a prosperous future for all.
