Tokyo 2025: Taylor and Anderson advance to men’s 800m semis
Jamaica’s pair of national record holder Tyrice Taylor and Navasky Anderson qualified for the semi-finals of the men’s 800m after solid third place finishes in their respective heats at the Tokyo World Athletics Championships on Tuesday.
Taylor, the bronze medalist at the NACAC Championships in August, ran 1:45.13 minutes to edge Australia’s Peter Bol on the line for the automatic place. Ireland’s Cian McPhillips won with 1:44.91 and American Bryce Hoppel was second in 1:45.09.
Anderson ran 1:44.87 in a fast heat that was won by Great Britain’s Max Burgin in 1:44.73 with Botswana’s Tshepiso Masalela second with 1:44.74.
