Duncan, Tavares-Finson and Bennett-Cooper appointed gov’t senators
KINGSTON, Jamaica —Former Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica President Keith Duncan and attorneys Christian Tavares-Finson and Rose Marie Bennett-Cooper are set to occupy the Upper House as the newest government senators.
The newcomers are among the 13 government senators appointed to the Senate on Wednesday at King’s House. They replace previous senators Audrey Marks and Delano Seiveright, both of whom were recently elected to the Lower House as Members of Parliament, as well as the late Don Wehby.
They will join returning government senators Tom Tavares-Finson, Charles Sinclair, Kamina Johnson Smith, Aubyn Hill, Dana Morris Dixon, Sherene Golding Campbell, Kavan Gayle, Abka Fitz-Henley, Marlon Morgan and Dr Elon Thompson.
Their appointments become effective Thursday, September 18.
