Mark Golding announces appointment of opposition senators
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Leader of the Opposition and president of the People’s National Party (PNP) Mark Golding has announced the appointment of eight opposition senators to the Upper House on Wednesday.
They are attorney Donna Marie Scott-Mottley, Professor Floyd Morris, Lambert Brown, Kisha Gaye Anderson, Allan Rutherford Bernard, Dr Maziki Thame, chief executive officer (CEO) of Barita Investments Limited, Ramon Small-Ferguson and People’s National Party campaign spokesperson Cleveland Tomlinson.
“The People’s National Party welcomes the appointment of these distinguished Jamaicans, who bring a wealth and variety of relevant expertise, experience, and commitment to national service. Collectively, they represent the values and vision of the PNP, and will play a critical role in advancing policies and reviewing legislation that promote social justice, equity, and sustainable development for the people of Jamaica,” the party said in a media release on Wednesday.
Golding also expressed confidence that the new Senate team will provide strong and effective representation in the Upper House, ensuring accountability in the nation’s governance by their strong, constructive defence of the interests of the Jamaican people.
