Mobile services down, Digicel says it’s addressing issue
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Telecommunication provider Digicel has confirmed a disruption in mobile services, which is affecting customers across the island and says it is working to rectify the issue.
Reports reaching Observer Online are that customers across both telecommunications providers, Digicel and Flow, have been experiencing dropped calls and error messages, including “not registered on this network” since Wednesday morning.
Addressing the reports, Digicel shared a post to its social media platforms shortly after 10:00 am, stating, “We are aware of a disruption affecting our mobile network, which is impacting call and data services for our customers. Our technical teams are actively working to identify the cause and restore services as quickly as possible. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”
The company further told Observer Online, “At this time, the exact cause of the disruption has not yet been identified. Our technical teams are carrying out a full investigation and working around the clock to isolate the issue. The disruption is affecting customers islandwide across our mobile network, with both call and data services impacted. We are closely monitoring the situation to determine the full scope, and we are committed to restoring reliable service as quickly as possible.”
Digicel added that its engineers are actively running diagnostics to pinpoint the cause and implementing corrective measures in real time.
