New music coming from Chris Martin
On the heels of the declaration of Christopher Martin Day in New York City on August 9 each year, the reggae/dancehall artiste is set to release an album.
The singer revealed that the finishing touches are being made to the project.
“My album is close to the finish line, so fans can look out for that this year. It’s gonna be around 14 tracks. We have some collaborations on there, I won’t talk about them yet, but there are about four big, big collaborations,” Martin told the Jamaica Observer.
The album, whose title was not revealed, will be released by VP Records.
This project follows work such as Big Deal, And Then, Early and Days At Big Yard, as well the Chill Spot and Steppin Razor EPs.
In 2021 he earned a Billboard plaque following the début of And Then on the Billboard Reggae Album Charts.
In the meantime there are already plans to celebrate his day in New York come 2026.
“We got a nice award in New York… that’s big deal business; big vibe. Next year, we’re looking forward to doing something awesome,” the entertainer shared.
Among his slate of hits are Cheaters Prayer, Giving It, To the Top with German reggae artiste Gentleman (which was last year certified gold in Germany), and 2012’s Paper Loving, which is featured on ZJ Chrome’s Cardiac Bassrhythm series.
Paper Loving was, in June 2025, certified silver in the UK by the British Phonographic Industry for sales and streaming exceeding 200,000 units.
Martin further noted that he has remained relentless in doing music for all age groups because of his moral beliefs.
“That’s just who I am. That’s been my brand because that is me. There is no smoke screen; there’s no façade… I don’t have to pretend. I don’t have to get up in the days and be like, ‘OK, I’m gonna go on the road, I have to put on this persona of Christopher Martin is.’ What you see is what you get, and that’s exactly how I exhibit it in my music. We keep it clean, we keep it friendly… some of them are [about] some raunchy topics, but we don’t go over the line. I do that also because my mother listens to my music. She’s also a big fan of me so I don’t want her to only be able to listen to some songs,” he said.
