Tokyo 2025: Shericka Jackson and Ashanti Moore through to 200m semis
Defending champion Shericka Jackson and national champion Ashanti Moore both advanced to the semifinals of the women’s 200m at the Tokyo World Athletics Championships after comfortable qualifying in the first round Wednesday.
Jackson, who was fourth in the 100m two days prior, won her heat in 22.33 seconds (0.0m/s), beating Great Britain’s Amy Hunt who was second in 22.57 seconds and Belgium’s Imke Verbaet who was third in 22.74 seconds.
Moore, who had failed to get past the first round two years ago in Budapest, was second in her race in 22.57 seconds (-0.2m/s), just behind American McKenzie Long who won in 22.51 seconds.
The third Jamaican, Gabrielle Matthews was seventh in her heat, running 23.40 seconds (0.1m/s), and failed to get into the next round.
