Recording artiste Versi says he’s ready to make major moves on the local music scene following the release of his debut album P.V.O. (Portland’s Very Own).

Unveiled late last month, the 17-track compilation features collaborations with some of music’s biggest talents, including Chronic Law, Valiant, and Rygin King.

Outlining that the project took a great deal of effort, Versi says he is pleased with the body of work and anticipates it opening windows of opportunity for him.

“This album took a lot out of me, both physically and mentally, but I am pleased with the outcome, and I am equally optimistic the fans will appreciate my effort,” the entertainer said. “This project represents my growth, my story, and my connection to Portland — the place that made me who I am, and I can’t wait to see what it does on the music scene.”

The entertainer, who has been slowly making a name for himself in the industry, says the album has a little bit of everything for everyone.

He explained that each of his collaborators brings a new element to the project. Chronic Law brings dancehall grit, Rygin King brings a story of perseverance, while Valiant channels the party lifestyle that is synonymous with the dancehall space.

“Level Up, featuring Rygin King, delivers an empowering, high-energy anthem for perseverance and ambition, while Nah Change with Chronic Law blends dancehall grit with lyrical realism.
Outlandish with Valiant provides infectious grooves tailor-made for both party and bedroom playlists,” he shared.

While dancehall’s current heavyweights pack a heavy punch on Versi’s debut project, the deejay said he also made it his point of duty to pay homage to foundation members of the genre he now proudly represents.

“What is an album without the founding fathers who set the pace for us?” he questioned. “Louie Culture and Ginjah are two icons that I look up to in this business, and it was a pleasure being able to work with them on this project. I respect the veterans because without their contributions, I wouldn’t be able to do what I’m doing today.”

Emerging talents are also featured on the project with collaborations featuring the likes of Mwata Modala and Bingy Linkz.

The creative blend of past, present, and future talent, Versi says, forges a dynamic mix of voices and styles that reflect his musical journey.

Cawvinz Entertainment gains credit as executive producer, with additional production from industry talents including CJ The Chemist, Din Din Hempton, Dinesty King, Jay Crazie, and Billboard-charting producer Kemar “Flava” McGregor.

P.V.O. is available in digital and physical formats.
