Garvey Maceo rally to beat Denbigh 2-1

Defending champions Garvey Maceo High came from behind to beat Denbigh High 2-1 in their ISSA daCosta Cup Zone I game in a rain-affected set of games on Wednesday.

They joined Glenmuir High, Mannings School and Petersfield High in extending their winning starts to three games.

Three other games were abandoned on Tuesday due to bad weather and were completed yesterday.

Denbigh High took the lead midway the first half before Damion McIntosh equalised for a 1-1 half-time score, then Jevaughn Foster scored the winner in time added.

Garvey Maceo, however, trails Glenmuir High on goal difference in the points table after the ISSA Champions Cup holder beat Winston Jones high 4-0, with Ricardo Binns scoring a double. Orel Miller and Orane Watson also scored.

Mannings School beat Black River High 3-0 to stay on top of the table on goal difference over Petersfield High who beat Lewisville High 2-0, both on nine points in Zone C.

Rusea’s High led Frome Technical 1-0 on Tuesday when their game in Lucea was called off, and completed a 3-1 win when the game resumed on Wednesday with Maliek Headed scoring a double in the final 11 minutes of the game.

Omarion Jemmison had given Rusea’s High the lead in the second minute on Tuesday, Headed made it 2-0 in the 79th minute, beating goalkeeper Demarcus Foster with a free kick inches from the 18 yards box before finishing off a good two-man move with Jemmison, scoring in the 89th minute.

After having a penalty saved in added time, Frome pulled a goal back when Antwayne Cooper scored sixth minute of added time.

Former champions Clarendon College were also winners on Wednesday, beating Edwin Allen High 2-0 in their game that was also called off on Tuesday.

Wednesday’s results

Lewisville High 0, Petersfield High 2
