Tokyo 2025: Lamara Distin crashes out of high jump
National champion Lamara Distin failed to get past the first height in the qualifying round of the women’s high jump Thursday at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
Distin, who has a season’s best 1.92m, achieved indoors, was one of seven athletes who failed to get over the opening height of 1.83m.
The national record holder, indoors and outdoors, was fifth at the World Championships two years ago in Budapest, a year after she had placed ninth in Eugene.
She subsequently won the Commonwealth Games title in Birmingham.
