Marathon Insurance Brokers opens new branch in Santa Cruz

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – Marathon Insurance Brokers has expanded its footprint with the official opening of a new branch in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth on Thursday.

The company says the move reflects both the town’s growing importance as a commercial hub and its commitment to bringing insurance services closer to communities outside the Corporate Area.

President and CEO Levar Smith said the decision to set up in Santa Cruz was deliberate, pointing to the resilience of the parish following the devastation of Hurricane Beryl last year.

“Insurance is about people. It is about relationships, whether in person or online. It’s about having someone you can connect with who understands your needs and can guide you every step of the way. That is why today is so significant,” Smith said.

Marathon already operates in Kingston, Montego Bay, and Portmore, and Smith revealed that further expansion is on the horizon with offices planned for Mandeville, May Pen, Portland, and Ocho Rios.

Delivering the keynote address, Jamaica Chamber of Commerce director Winsome Callum praised the company’s investment in Santa Cruz as a vote of confidence in the town’s resilience and future.

“Santa Cruz has always been a hub,” Callum said. “By investing here, Marathon Insurance Brokers is declaring that this town’s best days are not behind it, but still ahead.”

She added that the community’s recovery from Hurricane Beryl underscored its strength, making the branch opening not just a corporate milestone, but a celebration of the town’s potential.

Smith also reflected on Marathon’s 35-year journey, noting its efforts to simplify insurance and make it accessible through both digital platforms and personalised service. He highlighted the success of the company’s online motor platform, which has enabled thousands of Jamaicans to access coverage quickly and conveniently.

The Santa Cruz branch will provide both general and life insurance solutions, including motor, property, and family protection policies, all under one roof.

Thanking staff, clients, and partners, Smith reaffirmed the company’s commitment to strengthening its ties with communities across Jamaica.

“Let us celebrate not just a new office, but a stronger connection with the people we serve. This is the beginning of another exciting step in Marathon’s journey. And together, we will go the distance,” Smith stated.
