Tokyo 2025: Goule fails to advance to women’s 800m final
TOKYO, Japan — Jamaica’s national record holder Natoya Goule-Toppin came up short in her quest for a spot in the final of the women’s 800m at the World Athletics Championships after she placed fifth with 1:59:58 in her semi-final race in Tokyo, Japan.
Goule-Toppin was well placed to get an automatic spot into the final with 200 metres to go in second position but was passed by three runners in the last 70 metres.
Kenya’s Mary Moraa won the semi-final in 1:58.40 ahead of Great Britain’s Georgia Hunter-Bell’s time of 1:58.62.
