Tokyo 2025: Scott finishes fifth in men’s triple jump
TOKYO, Japan — Jordan Scott was fifth in the men’s triple jump at the World Athletics Championships with a personal best of 17.21m (0.0m/s) in one of the best endings to any championship event at the National Stadium in Tokyo.
Scott, who was also fifth at the World Indoor Championships earlier in the year, achieved the best finish by any Jamaican male triple jumper at the World Athletics Championships, just ahead of national record holder James Beckford, who was sixth in 1995 in Sweden.
Portugal’s Pedro Pichardo produced a phenomenal world-leading 17.91m (0.5m/s) effort on the final jump of the event to take the gold medal, minutes after Italy’s Andrea Dallavalle had taken over the lead with a personal best 17.64m (1.5m/s) jump, moving from fourth place.
Cuba’s Lazaro Martinez took the bronze medal with a season’s best 17.49m (0.0m/s)
